Things To Do In Maldives

Maldives is the picture of paradise. it is difficult to write an introduction such as this without resorting to the word "paradise". It's common to head a list of activities with a selection of Must Do's. Such is not the case with the Maldives, where visitors are compelled to do nothing more than enjoy themselves, which could be easily accomplished by wandering the few steps from their villa to a beachside hammock.

It’s true, the over the water bungalows are a spectacular sight and those images are what drew us to the Maldives in the first place.

But are there things to do in Maldives besides relax? Oh yeah! We actually ended up having an amazing adventure holiday!

»Diving

The Maldives is one of the premier scuba diving destinations on earth and if there is one place you need to give it a try, it’s here.

There are many affordable PADI dive centers where you can take a discovery dive if you are not certified, or sign up for several dive options to one of the many reefs.

The Maldives is known for its stingrays, whale shark migration and sea turtles. The crystal clear blue waters offer incredible visibility and there’s no need for a wetsuit here, the water’s warm and inviting.

Spot the usual suspects — schools of colorful tropical fish, reef sharks, tortoises, the odd ray if you’re lucky — or take a deep diving expedition to dive with whales and hammerhead sharks

I had forgotten just how close and personal you can get to the fish when diving. This was definitely one of our favourite things to do in the Maldives.

Expect many more underwater adventures from us.

»Enjoy Snorkeling

If scuba diving isn’t your thing, snorkeling is a great option. The reefs are so pristine in the Maldives that you don’t have to go deep to see a lot!

We went snorkeling with sea turtles and saw more than half a dozen munching their lunches at the reef. Spending a solid two hours in the water, we also managed to see so much more than just sea turtles.

Malé Local Market is located on the northern waterfront a block away from the Malé Fish Market.

Compared to the normal hustle and bustle of the neighborhood, guests will find this particular block a tranquil place to shop. Vendors sell their products from individual stalls. Some of the foods visitors can expect see include local vegetables, nuts, breadfruit chips, fruits, yams, bottles of pickles, packets of sweetmeat, and bunches of bananas on rope hanging from the ceiling. There are some international options here as well. To bargain for the best prices, travelers should be prepared to use local currency

»There’s A Glow-In-The-Dark Beach In The Maldives.
|

There’s a beach way down in the Maldives that looks like something out of a science-fiction fairytale. It’s gorgeous, to say the least.

Yes, when we say it glow at the night, we mean it as it really does. What is the magic?  Why does it happen? This beach looks like a fascination for a science-fiction fairytale. Holidaymakers make sure to include this destination in their things to do in Maldives at night. As the waves break the rhythm on the shore or if you are bare feet stepping into the wet sand, you will see a dazzling green-blue glow that occurs on the shore. This is magical effect and is caused by bioluminescent plankton that becomes visible in warm coastal waters.

You know, if you camp out long enough and consider yourself generally lucky, you may find yourself uttering...

Is this real life?

Distance From Maldives Airport - You will need to take a ferry, which will take you around 4 hours, or you can take a speed boat that will reach in around 30 minutes. From airport approximately it is 8 km.

Price/Tickets - NA

Location - It is at the Vaadhoo Island, Maldives - The Sea of stars .

»Kayaking

Kayaking is a fun and rejuvenating activity to take up on your trip to Maldives. The island is extremely popular for its water sports, kayaking being one of them. In this activity, one is required to paddle a small boat known as a kayak, using a double-bladed oar. The specialty of these boats is that they sit low in the water so you can experience every little turn of the water. Most of the resorts have provisions for kayaking, which generally include a kayak, oar and a guide. The activity does not cost a lot, and the experience of driving your kayak on your own in the blue ocean waters is thrilling .

»Sunset Romantic

I don’t think there is a more romantic destination on earth than the Maldives. If you are travelling as a couple and want to splurge on a romantic night out, this is the place to do it.

While most food is buffet style in the Maldives, take a break from the smorgasbord and enjoy either a sunset beach or sunset pier dinner.

We found the meal to be a bit pricey at $220 per couple, but it did include a bottle of champagne, private waiter and a meal prepared right at your table.

However, I think Cinnamon could do a lot better if they just made this option an upgrade from dinner.

I honestly thought it was a $25 upgrade while eating. At a whopping $220, I almost felt a little ill and I wasn’t even paying for it!

The resorts were all inclusive so why spend that much more when you can already get food and wine included in your package?
However, as they say “When in Rome...err The Maldives”

»Indulge in a Spa treatment

Whether you’re being covered in coconut oil, bathing in coconut milk or being covered in gold leaf, there are all sorts of spa treatments on offer in the Maldives on each end of the spectrum (being covered in gold leaf being on the more expensive – and ridiculous – side!)
